Moon and Wind is an exploration of identity, culture, and tradition. As a second generation Japanese-American living in Japan, I documented the process of finding my cultural identity. The series of photographs taken shows different aspects of modern and traditional Japanese culture that I experienced. Navigating through cultural differences, the confusion, facing expectations to assimilate, and struggles to find a sense of belonging as a “foreigner,” the three years of living in Japan allowed me to appreciate who I am, while embracing my roots.
