Liberation of Form

An experimental series of black and white 35mm photos that were printed, cut, and intentionally placed in a new way. The photographs are of a friend who was experiencing anorexia at the time and bravely shared her struggles. The process of cutting the physical photographs of the nude body and rearranging them allowed for a “liberation” of form, where labels and looks do not create space for defining one or one’s beauty.

“the angle, length, thickness of the curves of your body... it's a waste to judge yourself as beautiful or ugly based on such things.” -Mizuka
